Welcome to Holy City Henna. We are the only SC company dedicated to the art of henna temporary tattooing!'No pain, just stain!'

Since the dawn of time, the concept and practice of body decoration has been an integral part of life. Tattoos, scarification, piercing, hair coloring, cosmetics, perfume, clothing…is the human instinct to adorn the body? The body has been a canvas for expression and embellished in the never-ending quest for beauty since at least 100,000 years ago. Stone Age man braided seashells into their hair and wore bone necklaces. They also painted their bodies with symbols and marks to express social, cultural, or religious attitudes. Egyptian mummies in the Valley of the Nile were found with henna-tinted fingernails from around 1200 B.C. Every culture in the world has a distinctive style of body decoration and concept of beauty. The New Zealand Maoris are recognized by their distinctive facial tattooing (moko) just as different African nations are immediately recognizable by their large lip disks and stretched necks. Every culture throughout time has practiced some sort of body decoration or modification. What will yours be?

Safety Warning - No "Black Henna"!
Please do not allow someone to apply a tattoo on your skin made from "black henna." Henna is not black. Safe, natural henna powder is always green, and the stain that the paste leaves on the skin ranges in color from red, orange and brown. Products labeled "black henna" contains a synthetic black hair dye called para-phenylendiamine. This chemical is also used in photographic development. Individuals processing film wear safety gloves, apron and eye protection. When applied to the skin, PPD is dangerous and can cause blistering, open sores, scarring, and lifelong health problems.

Holy City Henna only uses henna paste made from all-natural ingredients and is guaranteed free from harmful chemicals.
